Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected from the southwest monsoon
On Saturday, the southwest monsoon will deliver mild to heavy rainfall to northern and central Luzon, according to the meteorological office.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated in its 4 a.m. daily prediction that the southwestern monsoon would bring overcast skies, sporadic rain showers, and thunderstorms to the Ilocos region, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands.
Partly overcast to cloudy skies will prevail throughout Metro Manila and the remainder of the nation, with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms brought in by the monsoon and localized thunderstorms.
Extreme Northern Luzon will be blasted by moderate southwesterly winds, with moderate coastal water conditions.
Light to moderate southeast to southwest winds will blow over the remainder of the nation, with minor to moderate coastal water conditions.
Meanwhile, as of 3 a.m., a tropical storm called “Champi” was detected outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, 1,835 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.
It is heading northward at 20 kph, with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph around the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
Metro Manila will be 26°C to 32°C; Baguio City will be 15°C to 23°C; Puerto Princesa City will be 25°C to 32°C; Metro Cebu will be 26°C to 32°C; Cagayan de Oro City will be 23°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao will be 24°C to 32°C.
