On April 29, the town of Urbiztondo will host the first Kanen Festival and Boodle Fight, which will feature 40,000 pieces of delicious native cakes.

Native cakes will be spread out on a long stretch of tables along Urbiztondo’s main road and consumed by participants in a boodle fight, according to a statement from Mayor Modesto Operania on Friday.

Latik, bibingka-pininat, biko, turonket, unda-unday, suman, sapin-sapin, and palitaw (with fillings) are a some of the delights that will be on display at the Kanen Festival.

“The honoree and speaker will be Vice President Inday Sara Duterte. During our most recent teleconference meeting, where several topics were addressed, she affirmed that she would attend the festival.

A People’s Night Grand Ballroom will be part of the celebration after the boodle fight.

The festival is a component of the town’s celebration of its founding anniversary.

Other events include the Cycling Criterium, the opening of the 1st Urbiztondo Invitational Basketball 2-Day League, and the Educator’s Night on April 27; a unity run, street dancing, and zarzuela with Insiyong Tamayo on April 28; and a procession, Misa na Pisasalamat, goodwill volleyball games, championship games of the Basketball League, a Zumba Invitational Contest, the Swing and Rock Festival, and a fireworks display on April 30.

The theme of the foundation anniversary is “Embracing Change, Rebuilding Legacy, and Aspiring Greatness.”

“The motif conveys our aspiration to restore greatness to our town. To make the town tranquil, lovely, and forward-thinking, we have already started a number of improvements, Operania stated.

The locals of Urbiztondo are renowned for their use of local agricultural products to create rice cake specialties.
