On Thursday, the American technology and e-commerce company Amazon announced new tools for generative artificial intelligence (AI) development on its Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing platform.

The business stated in a statement that “generative AI applications like ChatGPT have recently attracted significant attention and imagination.”

“We are truly at an exciting inflection point in the widespread adoption of ML (machine learning), and we believe that most customer experiences and applications will be reinvented with generative AI,” the company noted.

Many of the features that customers utilize with Amazon are powered by machine learning, according to Amazon, which claims that AI and ML have been a focus for the company for more than 20 years.

“Our e-commerce recommendations engine is driven by ML; the paths that optimize robotic picking routes in our fulfillment centers are driven by ML; and our supply chain, forecasting, and capacity planning are informed by ML,” the company claimed.

Using foundation models, one of the new tools, Amazon Bedrock, will assist users in developing and scaling generative AI-based applications.

The other tool, Titan, is capable of carrying out activities including information extraction, text generation, blog post creation, and summarization.

Large language models have also been made available to developers by big US IT companies like Google and Microsoft.
