The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) distributed cash to at least 500 low-income inhabitants of Barangay Miranda in this island city on Friday.

The recipients of the financial assistance got PHP 3,000 apiece from the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The AICS is a component of the DSWD’s protective services for the underprivileged, vulnerable, and marginalized, as well as its technical support for local governments and other partners.

Those impacted by the pandemic’s effects on marginalized labor are among the beneficiaries.

Senator Christopher Lawrence Go provided the recipients with additional materials in addition to the DSWD-11 financial aid, including bicycles, basketballs, volleyballs, crutches, shoes, mobile tablets, food, and shopping packs.

Go also attended the barrio Tambo Foundation day and visited the three projects his office has financed in the barrio.

In his remarks, he advised locals who were unwell to seek government assistance and utilize the Malasakit Center’s services.

“We also offer Super Health Centers, which can address your urgent medical needs. To prevent you from going for medical care, we are developing it closer to you, Go stated.

Doreen Joy Cawate, a recipient from Barangay Miranda, said the financial aid is very helpful to her family, given that she is currently unemployed.

“We will use it to buy food, especially milk for my children,” she stated. (
