‘PBBM will appoint competent persons’ who came in last in the 2022 elections.

After the one-year ban was lifted this month, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is considering appointing politicians who finished last in the May 2022 elections.

In a media interview conducted on Philippine Airlines Flight PR 001 on Sunday, Marcos stated that he would strengthen the Cabinet by appointing more members at the start of his second year in office.

There were many capable individuals who didn’t succeed in the polls but wish to contribute, “Marami namang magaling na hindi nanalo sa eleksyon na gustong tumulong. Therefore, we will undoubtedly consider that from various angles, said Marcos.

The 1987 Constitution prohibits the defeated candidates from taking office within a year of the elections, which were held on May 9, 2022.

However, Marcos withheld the names of the potential appointees because he wanted to first speak with them.

They shouldn’t hear it through the media, naman. I ought to say it to them. We ought to have a conversation beforehand, Marcos said.
