The Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported on Wednesday that it reached a critical milestone last month with a daily collection of more than PHP7.5 billion, which set a record.

The bureau stated in a statement that it collected PHP7.510 billion in total, marking the daily collection as of April 28, 2023.

The achievement, it was observed, outperformed the agency’s previous record for a single day’s collection, which stood at PHP6.074 billion on October 14, 2022, by PHP1.436 billion, or 23.64 percent.

The impressive accomplishment, according to Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, may be credited to their ongoing efforts to apply accurate valuation, which led to a noticeably higher increase in revenue collection.

He continued by saying that the record-breaking daily collection shows their dedication to reaching their goal and helping the government raise money for its numerous initiatives and projects.

Rubio extended his gratitude and appreciation to BOC stakeholders and workers for their commitment and diligence that resulted in this most recent accomplishment.

The BOC announced a PHP74 million collection surplus for April 2023 on Tuesday.

The revenue collection for last month, which was expected to be PHP68.199 billion, was PHP68.274 billion instead.
