Release of P91 million in educational aid for kids in Antique

18,239 college and graduate school students in Antique have now received about PHP91.78 million in educational aid from the provincial government through the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO)-on-Wheels.

Irish Manlapaz, the director of PYDO, stated in an interview on Wednesday that 18,239 pupils received educational aid this year from January to May 17.

They anticipated finishing the distribution of the remaining PHP5.85 million meant for 1,170 beneficiaries the following week or soon after.

For the first semester, “college students were eligible for PHP5,000 each, while graduate students were given PHP6,000 individually,” Manlapaz stated.

According to her, recipients can use the money to meet their other requirements and pay for boarding places, books, and other school materials.

To distribute the remaining aid, she continued, “We are currently working with the University of Antique (UA) main campus.

Since most students who have not received aid are enrolled at UA in Sibalom town, Manlapaz stated that PYDO aims to arrange an on-site distribution.

It is suggested that other students who could not receive help during the distribution at the UA coordinate with the PYDO to find out the status of their applications.

The first week of September 2022 they marked the beginning of PYDO’s acceptance of student applications and other necessary documents, such as their school registration form, authenticated identification card, authenticated birth certificate, certificate of indigency issued by the barangay captain, and certificate not receiving any scholarship from the school.

She added that the provincial government, led by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, is providing the help to motivate the students to complete their education.
