π§π PBBM wants timely completion of Davao City Coastal Road segments
π¨βπΌ Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday urged the DPWH and its partners to ensure the timely completion of the remaining segments of the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project.
ποΈπ Marcos congratulated the DPWH, JICA, and stakeholders for the inauguration of the project’s first phase, emphasizing the need to finish the remaining segments within schedule.
ππ§ He acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte, in introducing “high-impact” infrastructure projects like the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road.
ππ± Completing the first phase is expected to ease traffic congestion and stimulate economic growth in Davao City.
π£οΈπ΄ββοΈ Marcos highlighted the road project’s features, such as walkways, bicycle lanes, and linear parks, which aim to provide comfort and well-being to the people.
π€π The project is based on well-thought-out master plans and aims to protect the city from storm surges.
ππΌ Marcos stressed the importance of closer cooperation between the government and private sector to make the Philippines an interconnected and thriving nation.
π’π Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte thanked the national government for the timely completion of the first and longest segment, expressing gratitude for the positive impact on suburban development and traffic conditions.
ποΈπ The DPWH-11 aims to complete all phases of the project by 2025.
π§π The Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project, supported by JICA, will strengthen the city’s infrastructure and transportation systems in preparation for population growth and increased economic activity.
ππποΈ Once completed, the road project will reduce travel time and congestion, promote suburban development, and serve as an alternative route.
πποΈ Travel time from the Toril area to the city center will be reduced from one hour and 45 minutes to just 30 minutes, dispersing urbanization outside the city center.
βοΈπ Additionally, the project will incorporate coastal shore protection and breakwater to safeguard Davao City from sea wave actions, water surges, and soil erosion.
