In June alone, PH sent out 5.4 million Covid-19 vaccines, according to Galvez

In June alone, the Philippines delivered 5,455,346 doses, bringing the total number of vaccines against the coronavirus illness to 12 million (Covid-19).

“Ito ayong record natin sa isang buwan nakapag-(bakuna) ng 5.4 million. At ngayon, umaarangkada na po tayo, mahigit isang milyon, limang araw pa lang po ng July, ay nagpapatunay ito na tumataas na rin ang kapasidad ng ating local government units at saka ‘yong sa ating mga probinsiya (Our records show “Late Tuesday, President Rodrigo Duterte received a report from the National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr.

Despite the low vaccine supply, Galvez, who is also the vaccine czar, claimed the country’s immunization program is operating well.

“We had the greatest production over the weekends ngayong linggo dahil sa pagtaas ng capacity ng ibang lugar at pagbibigay po natin ng supply sa ibang mga regions dito sa Visayas, Luzon at saka po sa Mindanao,” he added.

Meanwhile, Galvez expressed regret for the delay in the supply of Covid-19 vaccines, which has slowed the immunization campaign.

“Humihingi po kami ng pasensiya na hindi po natin mapigilan ang delay ng deliveries nakapag-slowdown sa ating rollout,” Galvez added.

Due to logistical difficulties, the delivery of 170,000 doses of Russian-made Sputnik V vaccinations to the Philippines was postponed again on Wednesday night.

The Philippines has received a total of 17,455,470 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

On Thursday, the Japanese government is expected to provide 1,124,100 doses of AstraZeneca vaccinations, followed by the delivery of 2,028,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the World Health Organization-led COVAX Facility on Friday.

Galvez estimates that the nation would get about 16 million doses this month, including 3,024,000 single-shot doses of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccines.

He also said that the Philippines would get 14 million doses next month, increasing the country’s total amount of Covid-19 vaccinations to 47 million by the end of August.
