OFWs in the UK have more opportunities: DOLE
Aside from employment possibilities for nurses and healthcare professionals, there are growing markets for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the United Kingdom (HCWs).
Labor Though medical professionals are in high demand in the host nation, according to Attaché Amuerfina Reyes in London, England, there are other sectors that employ Filipino employees.
“Employers want auditors, accountants, and linemen. “Agriculture is another growing market,” she remarked in a virtual conference on Friday.
A representative from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) said that employment orders for eldercare employees had just been received.
Reyes said that they want to deploy 2,000 to 3,000 nurses and HCWs by the end of 2021 since nurses and HCWs are in high demand in the UK.
“We’re halfway through the year, and we’ve already sent 2,000 nurses and HCWs. She said, “Another 2,000 to 3,000 by the end of the year.”
The bulk of Filipino employees, or 95%, who are deployed to the host nation are nurses and health care professionals, according to a POLO-London official.
“It varies from (entry-level) £19,000-£20,000 annually,” she replied when asked how much a Filipino nurse earns in the UK. Once they are recognized as a registered nurse, their salary would rise to £23,000-£24,000 per year,” she said.
Overtime pay is considerably higher for medical professionals there.
At the same time, Reyes claimed that the UK government plans to restore the economy on July 19 by enabling businesses, including restaurants, to reopen completely.
