PRRD to vax decliners: Don’t leave your homes or you’ll end up in jail.

On Tuesday, President Rodrigo Duterte told people who didn’t get vaccinated against Covid-19 to “stay home,” or they could be jailed and arrested if they didn’t get vaccinated.

Duterte said this after mayors of Metro Manila agreed to pass local ordinances that would limit the movements and activities of people who haven’t been vaccinated because of a sharp rise in infections in the region. This is what he said:

Barangay captains can say “Don’t leave your homes” if they know that you aren’t vaccinated, but if you leave, they’ll be there to help.

In the Philippines, the barangay captain can put you in jail and take you to a police station, he said.

Duterte said that people who don’t get their jabs are more likely to get sick, have complications, and die. He cited health experts for this.

It’s a lot of work to get you to be a mamatay when you get home. Kokoonti naman ang name given to God’s face, there aren’t a lot of people. Isn’t it possible to have a name? Sure, there won’t be any more. There is a good chance that if you get sick, you will die. People don’t die, which is good. They still do. As he said, “Maybe they haven’t had their shots.”

Duterte said that vaccines are important because they protect against the virus, even if it’s just a small one.

He also said that the only way to avoid more problems is to do what he said.

“Now, if you help me, I’ll say that I won’t help you because you haven’t been able to help yourself. If you don’t have a problem, then you don’t have a problem, too. Now, if you ask me for help, I’ll tell you that I won’t help you because you didn’t get vaccinated, so I won’t. In this case, I won’t have a problem, and you won’t have a problem either. Now, if you die, you’re on your own.

It was announced Monday that Metro Manila mayors have agreed to put more restrictions on people who haven’t been vaccinated against Covid-19 after the National Capital Region (NCR) was put on Alert Level 3 from Jan. 3 to 15.

Abalos told people who haven’t been vaccinated to stay in their homes at all times, except when they need to buy important goods and services.

The mayors of the NCR have also decided not to let people who haven’t been vaccinated go to restaurants, malls, hotels, events venues, sports and country clubs, and other places where people go for fun or to meet up with friends.

People who haven’t been vaccinated are also not allowed to use public transportation in their own country except for very important reasons, like buying goods and services.
