PH has discovered 520 new Delta variant cases.

A health official said Tuesday that an additional 520 cases of the highly transmissible and prevalent Delta strain of the coronavirus have been reported across the country.

The new Delta variant instances came from a total of 748 samples that were sequenced, according to Department of Health Epidemiology Bureau OIC-Director Althea De Guzman in an online media forum, saying that the department is unsure if the samples were gathered lately or in the prior months.

About 520, or 69.52 percent, of the samples collected and sequenced, were Delta variant instances, 83, or 11.10 percent, were Beta variant cases, and 64, or 8.56 percent, were Alpha variant cases.

With the addition of the newly recorded variant cases, the overall number of Delta variant instances has increased to 5,331; Beta variant cases have increased to 3,562, and Alpha variant cases have increased to 3,106.

“In the country, the percent of Delta variants detected climbed from 4.9 percent in June to 99.8 percent of lineages detected in October,” De Guzman added.

She went on to say that the National Capital Region is home to eight of the 520 new Delta variant cases.

The Cordillera Administrative Region, with 78 infections, Bicol Region, with 75, and Cagayan Valley, with 61, are the top three locations with new Delta variant cases.

All regions, cities, and municipalities in the National Capital Region (NCR) have Alpha or Beta variations, according to De Guzman.

The Delta variation, which was first discovered in overseas Filipinos returning home, has now been found in all 17 regions, as well as all NCR cities and its lone municipality.

Meanwhile, the P.3 variation, which was previously only found in one region of the country, is now found in all of them.
