PH national Covid-19 immunization day is on the horizon.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the government’s vaccine czar, said on Thursday that a National Covid-19 Vaccination Day will be held this month.

Galvez, the lead implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, indicated that for the event, all available healthcare staff would be used as vaccinators.

“On that day, all the agencies, the military, government agencies, and the business sector will pull in their resources,” he stated in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

He stated that the event would take place “most likely over the course of three days.”

According to Galvez, the Philippine Medical Association advised that some schools be converted into immunization sites for the occasion, which he compared to holding elections.

“Pagka nandun po ‘yung momentum, naka-deploy na ang ating mga resources and personnel—mas madali po natin na ma-excute iyon within three days,” Galvez added.

The campaign is part of the government’s goal to inoculate 1 to 1.5 million people each day by the end of the year, ensuring that the country’s population is protected against Covid-19.

In the last seven days, the average daily immunization rate was 551,642 doses.

Galvez added that the change will also allow local government units, particularly those at the barangay level, to organize a unified effort like the immunization drive.

“Ang gagawin natin talaga (That’s what we’ll do),” he said, “essentially to train, mobilize, and acclimate the municipalities, given that we don’t know how to hold a big mobilization immunization.”

Throughout total, 61,354,945 doses have been provided in the Philippines, with 28,198,294 Filipinos now fully immunized.
