The Palace refutes allegations of martial law and absolute lockdown.

On Friday, Malacanang disputed reports circulating on social media that the government would impose martial law in the country owing to an increase in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

“It’s fake news, po.” (That is bogus news.) Wag po tayong magpaniwala sa ganitong uri ng balita In a press conference, acting presidential spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles remarked, “Do not believe this type of news).”

On the potential that President Rodrigo Duterte will declare martial law or total lockdown by next week, Nograles was alluding to a voice recording of a woman asking the people to stock up on food that is good till January 30.

Spreading false stories, he claims, does not help and merely adds to people’s “unnecessary tension” and “needless terror.”

“Those who have nothing better to do than peddle lies,” he remarked, “you should stop this.”

The viral audio clip about martial law and the total lockdown was previously labeled as “false news” by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Thursday.
