Totals from the Department of Health 26.4K new infections, 1.6K new recoveries

On Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,656 recoveries and 26,458 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, there have been 102,017 active cases reported, with total recoveries totaling 2,782,723, or 94.8 percent of 2,936,875 infections.

There are 94,007 mild cases, 2,842 moderate cases, 3,399 asymptomatic patients, 1,462 severe cases, and 307 critical cases among the active cases.

“Of the 26,458 instances recorded today, 26,277 (99 percent) happened in the last 14 days — December 26, 2021, to January 8, 2022,” according to the DOH.

The National Capital Region (NCR) had 16,139 new infections in the last two weeks, accounting for 61 percent of all new infections; Calabarzon had 5,387 new infections, accounting for 21 percent; and Central Luzon had 2,281 new infections, accounting for 9 percent.

With 265 new deaths, the death toll has risen to 52,135 people, accounting for 1.78 percent of all cases.

“Of the 265 deaths, 15 took place in January 2022 (6 percent), 2 in December 2021 (1 percent), 8 in November 2021 (3 percent), 37 in October 2021 (14 percent), 59 in September 2021 (22 percent), 51 in August 2021 (19 percent), 35 in July 2021 (13 percent), 13 in June 2021 (5 percent), 5 in May 2021 (2 percent), 2 in April 2021 (1 percent), 3 in March 2021 (1 percent), 6 in February 2021 (2 percent), 12 in January

COVIDKaya is a web-based tool that allows healthcare professionals to collect and share information regarding Covid-19 patients.

According to the statistics from January 6, 43.7 percent of the 77,004 people who were tested for Covid-19 were positive.

“A total of 131 duplicate cases were eliminated from the total case count, with 101 being recoveries and one being death. In addition, 116 instances tested negative and were removed from the total case count, with 18 of these being recoveries, according to the DOH.

Meanwhile, after validation, 238 cases formerly labeled as recoveries were reclassified as fatalities.

On January 6, all laboratories were operational, but six of them were unable to submit data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on statistics from the previous 14 days, the six laboratories provide 3.6 percent of samples analyzed and 5.4 percent of positive persons, according to the DOH.

Patients with Covid-19 are currently using 34% of 3,500 critical care unit (ICU) beds, 38% of 19,500 isolation beds, 34% of 13,000 ward beds, and 18% of 3,000 ventilators across the country.

In the meanwhile, the NCR has 51 percent of the 1,200 ICU beds, 51 percent of the 4,600 isolation beds, 62 percent of the 4,400 ward beds, and 27 percent of the 1,100 ventilators dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
