PNP adds extra beds as the number of active Covid-19 cases reaches 2.8K.

As the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections among PNP employees continues to rise, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has added more quarantine facilities and beds inside its Camp Crame headquarters.

The PNP Health Service said in its Covid-19 report on Wednesday that 444 new cases brought the active case tally to 2,843 out of a total of 44,317 confirmed cases since the pandemic began.

PNP Chief, Gen. Dionardo Carlos, said in a statement that “the PNP added 80 beds in the Training Service facility and another 100 beds at the Badminton Court to completely accommodate PNP employees who tested positive (for) the virus.” “We’re increasing the number of quarantine beds as a precaution in case there are more personnel who need to be quarantined.”

Meanwhile, for Covid-19 cases, the Kiangan Emergency Treatment Facility remains the principal quarantine facility in Camp Crame.

Carlos also mentioned that asymptomatic individuals could be sent home on quarantine, but they must report their regular physical states to the medical staff in charge of surveillance.

Meanwhile, 12 more cases were recovered, bringing the overall number of recovered cases to 41,349, while the death toll remained at 125.

“Patuloy ang pagbibigay tulong sa ating mga pulis na nasa quarantine facilities at maging sa kanilang dependents,” said the spokesperson. (We continue to assist our police personnel in quarantine facilities, as well as their dependents, with the administration of booster doses in order to combat the natural virus.) Booster shots are still being given to help battle the infection). Rest assured that our operational capabilities and performance will not be impacted by the rising number of positive instances in the police force,” he said.

According to PNP data, 216,026 workers (95.87 percent) have received their entire vaccination, with 7,928 (3.52 percent) awaiting their second dose.

A total of 1,379 PNP members (0.61 percent) had yet to receive the immunization.

Meanwhile, Guillermo Eleazar, a former PNP leader and senatorial candidate, announced on Tuesday night that he has contracted Covid-19.

“I got my RT-PCR (reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction) test results tonight, and they indicated that I’m infected with the coronavirus for the first time.” “I am asymptomatic and will continue to follow the Department of Health’s home isolation policy until I am cleared to go out,” Eleazar said in a statement to media.

He reiterated his advice for unvaccinated people to get inoculated as soon as possible in order to protect themselves from the deadly Covid-19 virus.
