QC will provide financial assistance to unvaccinated merchants in order to obtain vaccinations.

Recognizing that vendors make up the majority of individuals who are still unvaccinated against the coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19), the Quezon City administration will offer incentives to urge them to acquire their vaccinations.

Market sellers, market employees, and ambulant vendors who earn their living on a daily basis, according to QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, are among those who have not been vaccinated.

According to Belmonte, the municipal administration will provide financial help of PHP2,000 to these market staff and sellers to compensate for the income lost as a result of closing their stalls to go to vaccination locations because of the increased number of Covid-19 infections.

“Most market vendors are unable to abandon their stalls due to the risk of losing money. We will provide incentives to urge them to take a day off to be vaccinated,” she said.

QC resident market vendors, market personnel, and ambulant vendors who have not been vaccinated as of Jan. 7, 2022, and who are willing to be vaccinated and can present proof of at least a first dose immunization from January 8 to January 31 will be eligible for financial support.

The Market Development and Administration Department shall compile a master list of qualified persons, according to Belmonte Memorandum No. 03-22, which was released on January 7. (MDAD).

Eligible individuals must be able to demonstrate their status as market vendors, ambulant vendors, or market employees by submitting a vending permit, certification from their barangay, or respected vendors’ association, and proof of residency in QC by any legitimate identity cards.

The list will subsequently be submitted to the City Health Department (CHD) for scheduling their vaccinations at the nearest vaccination sites.

Anyone discovered submitting incorrect information to get financial help, according to Belmonte, could face charges under Ordinance No. SP3032, which outlaws Covid-19 vaccination fraud.

Those who fail or refuse to get vaccinated will be asked to undergo a Covid-19 swab test every two weeks at their own expense and submit a negative result before being authorized to work onsite, according to MMDA Resolution No. 22-01.

She went on to say that the municipal administration backed up the resolution with City Ordinance SP 3076-S2022, which gives employees and workers a month to acquire at least a first dose before a bi-monthly reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or antigen test becomes obligatory.

For the first offense, violators will be fined PHP500, PHP1,000 for the second offense, and PHP3,000 for the third and subsequent offenses.

“This program is designed to protect both market sellers and the clients with whom they interact on a daily basis. We are saving them from serious sickness and strengthening the city’s overall immunity if they get vaccinated,” Belmonte said.
