DFA: There are still no walk-ins for passport and apostille services.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Tuesday that walk-ins are still not permitted in consular offices (COs) and temporary offsite passport services (TOPS) facilities across the country.

After outdated advice from 2016 emerged online, causing confusion among seafarers and overseas Filipino workers, the statement was made (OFWs).

“A DFA advise circulating on social media claims that OFWs renewing their passports at the DFA Consular Office NCR (National Capital Region) Central do not need to make an appointment. This is an old advise from before the epidemic in 2016, and it is no longer relevant “According to the agency.

“In light of the present health emergency emerging from the Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, walk-ins are no longer permitted in DFA CO NCR Central and all DFA COs and TOPS facilities,” it added.

Even for individuals using the courtesy lane, the DFA had been using an appointment-only system for passport and apostille services.

As part of the agency’s efforts to provide uninterrupted services even during the epidemic, the plan has been in place since May 2020.

To prevent any inconvenience, the DFA urged active OFWs to schedule appointments online at and select the DFA NCR Central (Robinsons Galleria – Active OFW Lane) location.

“For updated announcements, the public is strongly recommended to resort only to the DFA’s official website and social media channels,” the DFA added.
