Most cops are asymptomatic, however there are active Covid-19 instances in the top 4K of the PNP.

Many police officers who have contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) are asymptomatic, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP), who have been infected with the virus.

“Medyo umakyat yung bilang ng ating mga pulis na na-infect pero marami po asymptomatic, so we let them to perform home quarantine for five to seven days before testing natin.” Yung merong mga symptoms, yung merong mga quarantine facilities natin ay nilagay. Although we have added 180 beds to our nasa training school at the badminton court, we continue to provide additional bed capacity to accommodate symptomatic patients (the number of our police officers infected has increased slightly, but many are asymptomatic, and we allow them to do home quarantine for five to seven days before testing them). Those who showed signs of illness were taken to our quarantine facilities. In a radio interview, PNP commander Gen. Dionardo Carlos remarked, “We have added an additional 180 beds in the training school and badminton court, but we continue to supply additional bed capacity to accommodate symptomatic patients.”

This comes as the PNP reported another 310 new cases on Monday, bringing the total number of active cases to 4,015 out of 45,782 verified cases since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile, another 277 fresh recoveries bringing the overall number of recoveries to 41,642, with 125 people killed.

Carlos further stated that people who are asymptomatic and can still perform their functions while at home or in a facility are still employed.

He also stated that the PNP is getting closer to having all of its staff properly vaccinated against Covid-19.

According to the most recent figures as of Monday, 216,513 personnel (96.09 percent) of the entire strength of 225,313 have been fully vaccinated, while 7,620 (3.38 percent) are awaiting their second shot.

A total of 1,181 PNP members (0.53 percent) had yet to receive the immunization.

Meanwhile, Carlos stated that he had returned to work following his recovery from Covid-19 last week.

He also emphasized the need of maintaining a healthy body and mind in order to effectively battle the epidemic as front-line responders.
