After testing positive for coronavirus illness 2019, Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano announced on Monday that he will continue to work while in isolation (Covid-19).

Cayetano stated his antigen test came back positive and he is currently experiencing mild symptoms in a video conference with the city’s top leaders.

Meanwhile, Cayetano urged city authorities to ensure efficient service delivery and strict adherence to health rules.

“During this time, our primary focus will be on taking care of our residents by providing them with a better awareness of the virus and how to manage instances, as well as access to all of our services, such as testing, telemedicine, drug delivery, and vaccine.” “he stated

The local government, according to Cayetano, will continue to lead the transition to the new normal.

“Moving from pandemic to endemic, making the virus endemic, and becoming accustomed to living with it is entirely up to us, depending on how quickly we respond and adjust.” In this shift, the government must take the lead “Cayetano explained.

He also instructed City Administrator Lyle Pasco to audit and evaluate progress on the Taguig 2025 plan, which focuses on the metropolis’s complete transformation into a highly sustainable city that is more resilient to pandemics and other serious future concerns.

This includes proper resource management and food security, climate change and disaster mitigation, economic development and affordable housing, accessible healthcare and advanced medical technology, citizen-centered governance, and government service digitization, bridging education and employment through technology and education, and building an accessible and convenient mass transportation system.
