Over 500 localities have been placed on granular lockdown due to an outbreak of diseases.

As the country continues to deal with a surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, Secretary of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Eduardo Año announced Monday night that 540 locations across the country had been placed under granular lockdown.

“In fact, po ay aabot sa 97 LGUs (local government units) na nag-aabot ng Alert Level 3,” she said. Duterte during his Talk to the People briefing.

Meanwhile, according to Año, the DILG has issued a memorandum circular to local governments, police officers, and traffic bureaus instructing them to implement the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) “no vaccination, no ride policy” in accordance with the President’s order restricting the movement of unvaccinated people.

“Ang pupuwede lamang pong bigyan ng ating exemption ang mga taong may medical condition at mga mamamayan na kinakailangang maka-access sa vital at medical services.” Only those with medical issues and citizens who require access to necessary medical services are eligible for an exemption.) For the time being, it is being correctly executed, and we can say that our countrymen are typically obedient),” he added, adding that the Philippine League of Provinces has also directed all provinces to adhere to the policy.

The case increase hasn’t spared them.
