Covid-19 infections are on the rise in various parts of the country, according to the Department of Health.

The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Tuesday that coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases are on the rise in various regions, as well as in the National Capital Region (NCR).

During an online media event, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, which border Metro Manila, have seen an increase in cases.

She went on to say that the surge of instances in other locations will not be a unique incident.

In comparison to the September 2021 surge due to the Delta variation, the NCR Plus areas and the entire province of Luzon have seen a larger increase in cases.

“Ang mga lugar na may mababang vaccination rates ay kailangan maghanda para sa kanilang mga (Areas with low vaccination rates must plan ahead for hospital capacity).” “Eighteen out of 99 localities are on Alert Level 3, and the majority of them have a vaccination percentage of less than 40%,” Vergeire added.

Meanwhile, the NCR saw a significant increase in hospital admissions, with 60 percent of hospital beds and 58 percent of intensive care unit beds being used.

The DOH previously stated that vulnerable members of the community would be prioritized in hospitalization to protect the NCR’s healthcare system.
