NoKor launches two short-range projectiles toward the east coast.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced Monday that North Korea launched two short-range projectiles into eastern waters, the fourth launch in less than two weeks.
The South Korean military detected two projectiles, believed to be short-range ballistic missiles, launched northeastward to the eastern coast from North Korea’s Sunan airfield in Pyongyang at around 8:50 a.m. and 8:54 a.m. local time, according to the JCS.
The bullets went 380 kilometers at a height of 42 kilometers. According to the JCS, intelligence agencies in South Korea and the United States were meticulously reviewing further facts on them.
According to the JCS, the South Korean military is keeping a close eye on the situation and maintaining a high level of readiness in case Pyongyang launches another missile.
Pyongyang launched its fourth projectile this year. The railway-borne missile unit test-fired two tactical guided missiles on Friday, according to the Korean Central News Agency.
On January 5 and 11, North Korea claimed to have successfully test-fired a hypersonic missile.
The head of South Korea’s National Security Council (NSC) convened an emergency meeting, underlining the urgency of resuming communication as soon as possible in order to stabilize the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
