4 places have been upgraded to Alert Level 4; 15 more have been downgraded to Level 3.

Beginning January 21, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Northern Samar will be under the tougher Covid-19 Alert Level 4 designation, according to Malacanang.

“On Thursday, January 20, 2022, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved the escalation of Kalinga, Ifugao, and Mountain Provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region, as well as the province of Northern Samar, to Alert Level 4,” the announcement added.

An escalation to Alert Level 4 indicates that a region’s healthcare use rate has above 70%, with a frighteningly high two-week increase and average daily attack rates (ADAR).

In the meantime, 14 provinces and a city have been placed on Alert Level 3. These are the following:

In Luzon, Apao, Puerto Princesa City, and Masbate; in Visayas, Siquijor; and in the Philippines, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Lanao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, North Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Surigao del Norte, Maguindanao, and Basilan.

From January 21 to January 31, 2022, the Alert Levels will be in effect.
