A former OP executive has been appointed to the Court of Appeals.
Jennifer Joy Ong, the latest nomination of President Rodrigo Duterte to the Court of Appeals, was sworn in by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo on Friday.
According to the Supreme Court, Ong will succeed Associate Justice Maria Luisa Quijano-Padilla, who retired in January 2020, “leaving behind a record of honesty in public service with a zero backlog of cases” (SC).
The SC received Ong’s appointment on Friday, which was dated May 20, 2021, and signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
Ong, a native of Davao City, graduated from the Ateneo de Manila and Georgetown University Law Center in the United States with law degrees.
She passed the New York State Bar exam in 2007 and the Bar exam in 2004.
She was also a director of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and a Presidential Assistant 1 in the President’s Office.
