Affiliate marketing is all about getting paid to sell products you don’t own while staying out of jail. Someone else goes to the trouble of developing software, services, or digital content products. They’ll do all of the work, and you’ll get paid!

Affiliate marketing is a revenue-sharing agreement between the product developer, known as the affiliate merchant, and the affiliate marketer, who is anyone willing to promote the sale of a product by advertising the product through any legal means available.

The partnership will allow the affiliate merchant to increase their revenue by only paying for advertising that results in a sale. The affiliate marketer will profit by earning a percentage of the sale, which he will not have to manage after the sale.

Obtaining payment
Getting paid is entirely dependent on how the affiliate program is configured. Some businesses will have their own affiliate program. They’ll have special software that assigns each affiliate marketer a unique link that they can use to promote the product. The software will track each marketer’s sales, and the merchant will pay the commission on a regular basis via PayPal or another method of payment.

Choosing a product or service
Your income is directly related to how well your chosen product or service sells and the size of the commission you earn, so it’s critical that you choose the affiliate merchant you’ll be partnering with carefully.

Choose programs that you won’t be embarrassed to promote and that you’d feel comfortable recommending to family and friends if they asked.

You’ll fare much better if you promote products that you fully understand and are already acquainted with. This way, you’ll be able to write better ads without having to strain your brain for the right words.

Only promote products and services for companies that have gone to the trouble of providing you with training programs and sales aids such as banners and other marketing materials that you can use directly or model your own after.

Keep an eye out for programs with commission rates of at least 50%. You should prefer programs that pay commissions on multiple levels, which means you’ll have to earn commissions on sales made by people who buy products through your link and then go on to become affiliates themselves.
