In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Tuesday that it will step up its intelligence efforts to target vendors of counterfeit medical products (Covid-19).
PNP commander Gen. Dionardo Carlos said in a statement that he has ordered all police units to check their areas of duty to see if the syndicates behind the plan are working there.

In a raid on a warehouse in Quiapo Manila on Friday, the Bureau of Customs discovered PHP150 million worth of bogus coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) antigen test kits, Chinese herbal remedies, and face masks, resulting in the arrest of a Chinese national who was not identified.

“Given the vast quantity of confiscated things, we’d like to know the scope of their operation.” We don’t know if these goods are safe to use if they haven’t been regulated by government agencies,” he stated.

Carlos stated that the PNP, in collaboration with the Department of Health, will take a more active approach to address the scheme’s core cause.

Carlos stated, “The PNP will launch a crackdown to stop the spread of these phony medical supplies.”

Meanwhile, Carlos cautioned the public to only purchase medical supplies from accredited pharmacies and other similar establishments.
