ESL is promoted by the DOT as a vital PH tourism product.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is stepping up its efforts to promote the country by hosting the 2nd Hybrid Philippine Education Tourism Conference (PETC) on January 26-27 in Clark, Pampanga.

The two-day conference, organized by the Department of Transportation’s Office of Product and Market Development, intends to further enhance English as a Second Language (ESL), which has been pushed by the office since 2013.

“One of the most difficult difficulties we have today is ensuring that pupils receive the education they require. Teachers, students, and schools have to fast transition to digital modes of education because of the pandemic “In a news release released on Tuesday, Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat, who will start the event on January 26, said.

“Despite the challenging educational environment, we must continue to provide our kids with the skills they need to flourish in an unpredictable world that necessitates creativity and a robust support network. As a result, the Department of Tourism will continue to perform actions that will help our stakeholders build the education tourism industry.”

According to Puyat, the Philippines was the world’s fifth-largest ESL provider before the outbreak.

The PETC will showcase short-term online and offline education tourism programs that are being offered by institutions in the Philippines in the new normal to both local and foreign students to enhance the country’s position not only as an ESL hub but also as a multi-faceted education tourism destination.

Local and international education tourism authorities will share their marketing strategies experience in order to assist universities in making their offers more appealing to international students.

International mobility, the most recent education standards for international students, and best practices from adjacent nations that local institutions might implement to lessen the pandemic’s effects will be discussed by invited experts.

The virtual business-to-business and business-to-consumer networking activities scheduled for January 28 are also important components of the PETC, as they aim to provide opportunities for stakeholders and key players to renew or forge new partnerships, as well as exchange ideas and education trends.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) held the first-ever PETC at Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, in July 2019. More than 350 people from ESL schools, colleges, institutions, associations, and government agencies attended the event.
