The key to surviving the coronavirus disease pandemic of 2019 (Covid-19) is vaccination. Wednesday night, a member of the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 stated.

Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor, head of the NTF Strategic Communications sub-task group on current operations, advised unvaccinated Filipinos to receive Covid-19 vaccines to get enough protection against the feared disease.

“Muli ang panghihikayat ng pamahalaan, ang bakuna po ang sagot para malabanan po natin at tayo po ay makaalis – maka-exit tayo sa pandemyang ito,” Mayor said shortly after the arrival of 1,023,750 doses of Pfizer vaccine through an Air Hong Kong cargo flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport

The current consignment is part of a government-supplied vaccine program funded by the World Bank.

The Philippines has received 216.5 million doses of several Covid-19 vaccinations from various pharmaceutical companies, both purchased and donated, with 124,510,385 doses already administered statewide.

At least 57.8 million Filipinos have been properly vaccinated, with 6,683,975 people who were eligible for booster doses receiving them.

The government has recommended those who have received all of their vaccinations to get booster doses for further protection.

Mayor further stated that all Covid-19 vaccinations are safe and effective against severe and critical symptoms of the disease, as well as preventing coronavirus patients from being hospitalized.

As of Wednesday, 3,475,293 Covid-19 cases had been reported in the Philippines, with 3,191,219 recoveries, 230,410 current infections, and 53,664 deaths.
