A police outreach initiative benefits 200 households in SoCot.

At least 200 families in a remote community in T’boli, this province, benefited from a South Cotabato Provincial Police Office outreach initiative (SCPPO).

Col. Nathaniel Villegas, the SCPPO director, highlighted Sitio Lamkugo, Barangay Lamsalome in T’boli as the recipient of their outreach campaign in a statement released on Thursday.

Villegas, who led the exercise on Wednesday, said it was their way of bringing joy to the underprivileged peasants while also keeping an eye on the community’s security and well-being.

“The SCPPO goes above and beyond the call of duty to reach out and deliver something as a gesture of gratitude and return of favor for their contributions to peace and development,” Villegas added.

Food packets containing rice, canned products, and other shopping items were distributed to the recipients.

Lectures on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and other related provisions on the welfare of women and children are part of the program, and are intended to educate the community about the existing law.

As part of the program, 200 youngsters in the hamlet were given school supplies to encourage them to continue their studies despite the pandemic.

As part of its anti-criminality campaign and the national government’s End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) initiative, the SCPPO organized an outreach program in partnership with the provincial administration of South Cotabato.

Boy Me, the Lamkugo sitio leader, stated in a separate statement that the unusual opportunity to be chosen as the beneficiary of the outreach initiative brought smiles to his constituents’ faces.

“It’s been almost 30 years since the government has brought an activity like this to our community, and I’m glad to see men in uniform offering such assistance, program, and activity,” says one resident. In the vernacular, I said.

He pledged their entire support and assistance to the government’s peace and development initiatives.
