On Monday, the municipal government began administering coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) booster doses in the comfort of their own homes to bedridden seniors, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and citizens aged 80 to 99.

The move, according to Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., is part of the local government’s effort to reach people who are unable to travel to immunization sites.

“Ginagawa po natin ang house-to-house vaccination para sa ating mga bedridden senior citizens, PWDs at mga 80 to 99 years old para hindi na sila mahirapan sa pagpunta sa mga vaccination sites natin,” he wrote on social media.

Even though they do not leave their homes, bedridden residents, according to the mayor, require protection against Covid-19.

“We know they need protection even if they don’t leave their houses,” he added, “since they are more vulnerable to illness.”

The booster injections push for the elderly and PWDs was conducted by doctors and health workers from the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center (RLMMC), representatives of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, and members of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The city government hopes to inoculate 479 bedridden elderly people and 104 people with disabilities through house-to-house visits.

The elderly and PWDs are also provided PHP1,000 monetary assistance and Vitamin C pills in addition to the house-to-house vaccine.

The city’s Covid-19 burden was 14,229 as of January 30, with 589 current infections.

The overall number of recoveries stands at 13,113, with 527 deaths.
