Parents are being warned to keep an eye on their children outside as restrictions are being eased.
As the National Capital Region (NCR) reverts to Alert Level 2, Philippine National Police (PNP) commander Gen. Dionardo Carlos asked parents to closely supervise their children when they walk outside on Tuesday.
Carlos believes that it is preferable to keep children at home, especially when there is no compelling reason to take them outside, in order to avoid becoming trapped in crowded areas.
“We’re urging parents and guardians to take responsibility for supervising their minor companions because there’s no age limit for individuals who want to go outside,” he added.
This comes as the government prepares for the February 4 launch of a pediatric coronavirus vaccine for children aged 5 to 11.
NCR’s status has been downgraded from Alert Level 3 to Alert Level 2, allowing intrazonal and interzonal transit until February 15.
Local government units (LGUs) have the authority to impose restrictions based on the findings of their regional Inter-Agency Task Forces.
Following the downgrade, Carlos stated that the police department will reevaluate its action plan in the region as well as seven other locations that are on Alert Level 2.
“We tell our unit commanders to double-check any policy changes that the LGUs may make in their area,” he said.
For fully vaccinated individuals, venues are allowed to operate at a maximum of 50% indoor venue capacity and 70% outdoor venue capacity under Alert Level 2.
