The episcopal ordination of Rev. Msgr. Arnaldo Catalan as a bishop will be led by two cardinals and the Vatican’s delegate in the Philippines next week in Manila.

The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, often known as the Manila Cathedral, announced the ceremony on Facebook on Friday. It will take place in the church on February 11 at 5 p.m.

Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula, as well as Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown, will ordain Catalan.

It further stated that Catalan’s episcopal motto is “Iuxta Misericordiam Non-Deficimus,” which means “through kindness, we are not discouraged” (2 Corinthians 4:1).

Only individuals who have been completely vaccinated will be allowed into the Manila Cathedral, according to the Manila Cathedral.

“Only fully vaccinated individuals will be admitted into the Cathedral, in accordance with government health procedures.” It stated, “Please bring your proof of immunization.”

The celebration will be streamed live on the Manila Cathedral’s Facebook and YouTube pages. The event will be shown live on TV Maria as well.

Pope Francis named the soon-to-be archbishop the next Apostolic Nuncio to Rwanda on Monday.
