Most of the credit for the national “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” immunization drive’s success goes to Filipinos united against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Secretary Vince Dizon, Presidential Adviser on Covid-19 Response, emphasized that vaccination is continuing and that individuals who have not yet been vaccinated should be aware that the new coronavirus strain, Omicron, may be on its way.

“Mr. President, I think it’s also very important to emphasize that I believe our kababayan (countrymen) deserve a lot of credit because they really came in droves, Mayor, noon pong (on) November 29 to December 1,” Dizon said in a pre-recorded Talk to the People aired Tuesday.

“They could be the target of the Omicron,” Dizon added of the unvaccinated.

“Sila po ang hahanapin nung bagong variation, kaya dapat po magpabakuna na sila,” he remarked.

During the three-day push, around 8.1 million doses of Covid-19 vaccinations were distributed, according to Dizon, with some local government units extending it for two more days.

“However, since we expanded and lengthened the days, umabot po tayo ng 10.1 million in five days,” he continued. “I believe that each and every Filipino should be proud of our nagawa po natin ‘no itong nakaraang linggo (last week’s endeavor).”

From December 15 to 17, the government will conduct the second round of nationwide vaccinations in order to help the country reach its target of having at least 54 million Filipinos completely vaccinated by the end of the year.

The Philippines has administered 92,752,986 doses nationwide, according to the latest data from the national Covid-19 immunization dashboard, with 38,699,023 people receiving full vaccination and 561,125 receiving booster or extra shots.
