NTF reports that 2.1 million children aged 12 to 17 are fully immunized.

More than seven million Filipino youngsters aged 12 to 17 have gotten at least one coronavirus vaccine injection, with 2.1 million having received all three shots.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the lead implementer of the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, stated in his report to President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night that pediatric immunization is critical to the opening of the economy and the resumption of face-to-face schooling.

“Ito po nakita po natin talaga na gustong-gusto na po ng mga kabataan at saka ng kanilang mga magulang na mabakunahan na po ang ating mga,” Galvez added.

“Parang nakita po natin talaga na’yung ating mga kabataan gusto na po ring makalabas,” he continued.

In the first phase of the three-day national immunization push “Bayanihan, Bakunahan,” 60 to 80 percent of vaccine recipients were youngsters, according to Galvez.

From Wednesday through Friday, the second phase aims to thoroughly vaccinate first-dose recipients from all sectors.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority’s Philippine Projected Population figures for 2021, there are 12,722,070 Filipinos aged 12 to 17.

“We are extremely optimistic that 54 million Filipinos would finish the second dose by the end of the year,” Galvez added.

The Philippines has already delivered 97,237,440 doses nationwide, with 54,914,819 being initial doses, 41,513,071 being full vaccination, and 809,550 being booster or supplementary doses, according to the National Covid-19 vaccination dashboard.
