BDO is reimbursing cash from recent cybercrime victims’ accounts.

Nearly 700 clients of Sy-led BDO Unibank Inc. will be reimbursed for monies lost as a result of recent fraudulent online transactions.

BDO stated in a statement on Tuesday that it “has been processing the compensation” for its customers.

“We have asked our customers to go to their bank branch and provide documents in order to receive a refund.” “The bank will bear the losses incurred as a result of this cybercrime incidence,” it stated.

“We’ve been working closely with the right authorities and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to prevent such occurrences,” the bank noted.

Governor Benjamin Diokno has stated that the BSP is working closely with BDO and the Union Bank of the Philippines (Unionbank) to resolve the problems.

“The BSP will do all possible to maintain the financial system’s safety and integrity, as well as the protection of financial customers,” he stressed.

Some of the impacted customers resorted to social media over the weekend to report the occurrences, claiming that monies were taken from their accounts and moved to several Unionbank and e-wallet accounts.
