The government meets its goal of 50 million PhilSys registrations by 2021, according to the NEDA.

Despite the hurdles posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) met its goal of 50 million registrations for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in 2021.

The PSA had enrolled 50,014,382 Filipinos in the demographic and biometric data gathering as of December 10.

The Land Bank of the Philippines, in collaboration with the PSA, has processed 6,786,939 bank account applications utilizing a colocation approach in PhilSys registration centers.

This achievement will aid financial inclusion, enhance beneficiary targeting, and speed up the delivery of government social security programs to all Filipinos.

“The epidemic has highlighted the importance of giving each Filipino with a unique and digitalized identification card. This is why we hastened the PhilSys rollout. In a statement released Wednesday, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua stated, “We applaud and appreciate the PSA, our government and development partners, commercial sector players, and registration officials for making this enormous accomplishment possible.”

PhilSys registration sites will remain open in the remaining working days of the year to reach more registrants.

The PSA also encourages businesses to offer mobile registrations in their offices and communities.

“The PhilSys will improve public and private sector service delivery and provide much-needed social and financial services to all Filipinos, particularly the poor.” “Everyone is encouraged to sign up and participate in this game-changing initiative,” Chua stated.

Visit the official PhilSys website (www.psa.gov.ph/philsys) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PSAPhilSysOfficial) for the most up-to-date information.

The PhilSys Registry Office can also be reached by calling 1388 or sending an email to info@philsys.gov.ph. Go to the step 1 registration page (https://register.philsys.gov.ph) to register for PhilSys online.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, into law in August 2018, with the goal of creating a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident immigrants.

The national ID will serve as a valid evidence of identity that will make public and private transactions, school enrollment, and bank account opening easier.

It also aims to improve efficiency, particularly when dealing with government organizations, by requiring people to provide only one form of identification during transactions.
