The bicameral conference committee report on the proposed PHP5.024-trillion national budget for 2022 was ratified by the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

After the bicameral committee harmonized the differing elements earlier in the day, the chamber ratified the final version of the spending legislation during the plenary session.

The 2022 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) will be sent to Malacanang for President Rodrigo Duterte’s signature after ratification.

The budget of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) was increased to PHP17.1 billion in the final version of the planned 2022 budget after it was previously lowered to PHP4 billion.

The proposed budget for 2022, according to House Appropriations Committee Chair Eric Yap, will be “crucial for our full recovery from the pandemic as a nation.”

“Rest certain that this budget implements the government’s battle strategy on health and nutrition, social protection, governance, and development,” Yap said.

The proposed General Appropriations Act for 2022 is 11.5 percent higher than the PHP4.506 trillion passed this year.

Building Resilience during the Pandemic, Sustaining the Momentum Toward Recovery and Continuing the Legacy of Infrastructure Development are the three key pillars that define the budget plan.
