PhilSys Registry safely stores national ID information.
The PhilSys Registry protects all registered information in the Philippine Identification System.
In a recent post, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) stated that all details and records changes by PhilSys-registered individuals are safe.
“The information in the PhilSys Registry shall be categorized in a manner that permits safeguards for data privacy and security, access restrictions, and change management,” according to Republic Act 11055, or the PhilSys Act.
Because all information is intact with the PhilSys Registry, if the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card or national ID is lost or damaged, it cannot be reproduced and used by others.
The PhilSys Registry, which is separate and different from all other databases, is administered and managed by PSA.
The PhilSys Act, which was signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, proposes to create a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident immigrants.
The national ID will serve as valid evidence of identity that will make public and private transactions, school enrollment, and bank account opening easier.
It also aims to improve efficiency, particularly when dealing with government organizations, by requiring people to provide only one form of identification during transactions.
