Rains are expected in portions of Mindanao as a result of the ITCZ.

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to parts of Mindanao, according to the weather agency.

Caraga, Davao Region, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will have this type of weather.

During moderate to severe rainfall, flash floods, and landslides are probable, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Isolated rain showers triggered by localized thunderstorms will continue to affect the rest of the country.

Over extreme northern Luzon, moderate to high winds and moderate to rough waves will persist.

Winds will be light to moderate elsewhere, with modest to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, 1,775 kilometers east of Mindanao, a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was last tracked.

The LPA may enter PAR on Sunday or Monday, according to PAGASA weather analyst Grace Castaeda.

“It has a small probability of becoming a tropical depression,” she said, “but it could produce scattered precipitation to regions of the eastern Visayas and Mindanao.”
