While thanking President Rodrigo Duterte for introducing improvements that benefit the majority of Filipinos, UniTeam senatorial candidate Harry Roque said he would work for legislation that would maintain the current administration’s beneficial policies.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako kay Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte dahil siya po ang nagsimula ng tunay na pagbabago na ipagpapatuloy ng UniTeam,” Roque, a former presidential spokeswoman, said during the UniTeam’s proclamation rally on Tuesday at the Philippine Arena.

In the May 2022 national elections, Roque is running under the banner of UniTeam’s standard-bearers, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte.

“Ang pangako namin ng inyong anak na si Inday Sara… pagpapatuloy namin ang pagbabago sa Pilipinas,” she said. (Your daughter Inday Sara and I vow that we will continue to bring about true change in the Philippines.) We will not let you down),” he stated.

The Duterte administration, according to Roque, launched the Build, Build, Build (BBB) program, which aims to usher in the Philippines’ “Golden Age of Infrastructure.”

The BBB program increased public infrastructure spending from 2.9 percent of GDP on average under the Aquino administration to around 7.3 percent at the end of the Duterte administration.

Meanwhile, Roque praised the Commission on Elections’ 2nd Division for dismissing a plea to revoke Marcos’ Certificate of Candidacy (COC).

“Sa mga kalaban ng UniTeam, isa lang po ang aking pakiusap, sa isang demokrasya taongbayan ang maghuhusga kung sino ang magiging presidente, hindi Comelec, “Roque said.

“”Hayaan po natin na magdesisyon ang taumbayan,” he continued, “since ‘yan po ay karapatan at prebilehiyo ng bawat Pilipino.”

The Comelec announced on Tuesday that the last petition to revoke Marcos’ COC had been dismissed.

Tiburcio Marcos filed the case, claiming that Bongbong is an “impostor” because former President Ferdinand Marcos’ true son has been dead “since 1975.”
