More affordable, durable homes for Filipinos: DHSUD

More housing developments are being developed by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to ensure that all Filipinos have access to a better and more decent standard of living.

DHSUD Secretary Eduardo del Rosario said in a statement released Wednesday that the housing sector is committed to extending resettlement initiatives across the country to ensure that all informal settler families (ISFs) living in risk zones be transferred to safe, decent, and resilient communities.

Apart from providing housing, Del Rosario stated that the government wants to ensure that ISFs are relocated to sustainable areas.

On Tuesday in Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija, Del Rosario attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the site construction of two communal housing projects.

The housing projects, which include a multi-purpose covered court and a daycare center at each location, will benefit ISFs from Barangay Cabugao and Barangay Concepcion.

The housing developments, according to Del Rosario, are part of the government’s resolve to provide unwavering public service as well as decent and sustainable communities for all Filipinos.

In the municipality of Rizal, a third-class town in Laguna made up of 11 barangays, a community assistance facility and an evacuation center will be built.

Del Rosario presided over a groundbreaking ceremony for a resettlement project at Barangay San Roque in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, on Monday.

“Land development is a critical component in assuring citizens’ comfort,” del Rosario stated.

The National Housing Authority (NHA) and the San Leonardo local government will collaborate on this project, which will initially consist of 58 housing units with a covered court.

Del Rosario stated that the construction of homes and resettlement areas for impoverished families will feature a proper drainage system and cemented road networks.

“Itaas natin ang antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan lalo na ang mga tinatawag nating (This is to improve the living conditions of our countrymen, especially the so-called) poorest of the poor,” he remarked.

In Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, the government is likewise speeding up land development at the current NHA ISF-designated resettlement site.

The projects, according to Del Rosario, are part of the government’s commitment to providing quality and long-term housing for all Filipinos.
