NTF reports that around 26K children aged 5 to 11 had been immunized.

The National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19 revealed on Thursday that 26,363 children aged 5 to 11 years old have received the modified low-dosing Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination.

The Covid-19 vaccination campaign for children aged 5 to 11 years old began on Monday at around 40 hospital and local government unit (LGU) vaccine sites.

Prior to the commencement of physical classes in the country, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., NTF chief, and vaccine czar, stressed the critical role of vaccinating those working in the education sector and protecting youngsters against Covid-19.

“When schools reopen, inoculating students and other members of the academic community will ensure their safety,” Galvez added.

Galvez stated that no deaths have been documented as a result of administering Covid-19 vaccinations to minors.

He stated that over 8.7 million youngsters had been fully vaccinated around the world.

Meanwhile, Education Secretary Leonor Briones stated her unwavering support for expanding the ‘Resbakuna Kids’ initiative across the country, claiming that it is critical to the safe reopening of face-to-face classes, particularly in high-risk locations.

“We cannot proceed to new forms, to new ways of teaching, unless our students are secure, healthy, and satisfied with their learning experience,” Briones added.

By February 14, vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 will be available at additional locations across the country.

The government plans to vaccinate more than 39.41 million children between the ages of zero and seventeen, with 12.74 million aged twelve to seventeen, 15.56 million aged five to eleven, and 11.11 million aged zero to four.
