In Odette-affected areas, the AFP transports approximately 2.3 million pounds of emergency supplies.

Several units of the Philippine Armed Forces (AFP) have delivered approximately 2.376 million pounds of humanitarian supplies to areas hit by Typhoon Odette.

The AFP stated in a statement late Sunday that 15 aircraft and 13 naval vessels had been deployed to humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations so far.

So far, Navy ships have brought 2.190 million pounds of aid, while Air Force aircraft, including one C-130 and eight S-70i Blackhawk helicopters, have flown over 186,282 pounds.

The AFP also stated that it assisted 394 people who were stranded in the area with transportation.

122 disaster response teams from the Visayas Command, Eastern Mindanao Command, and Western Command have been dispatched to date, with 85 officers and 799 enlisted men. A total of 101 CAFGU Auxiliary members and 361 reservists were also called in to help.

Lt. Gen. Andres Centino, the AFP chief, called for prayers for the typhoon survivors as well as soldiers deployed for disaster response and security operations across the country in his Christmas greeting.

“Let us remember to remember our loved ones and the storm survivors in our prayers. Let us also remember our brothers who are keeping vigil around the country right now β€” to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines – may they all be safe and out of harm’s way,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the AFP, through the Philippine Navy and Western Command, airdropped Christmas gifts to military personnel stationed in the Kalayaan Island Group’s various detachments and installations (KIG).

Onboard BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), an AgustaWestland 109 (AW-109) naval helicopter delivered aid kits from the Palawan Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office to Pagasa Island people.

Noche Buena supplies, including the traditional lechon, were airdropped to the troops in KIG by the same naval asset. The same Christmas packages were given to the troops in Rizal Reef Detachment by BRP Mangyan (AC-71).

BRP Antonio Luna was also met by a Philippine Coast Guard vessel, which handed the package to the troops of BRP Sierra Madre (LS-57) in Ayungin Shoal.
