MANILA, Philippines — On March 10, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) will host the first Online National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) of the year.

The online NSED programs will begin at 8 a.m., according to the statement.

Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, in-person earthquake drills are presently on hold.

The NSED for the first and second quarters of 2021 was held on March 11 and June 10, respectively.

On September 16, the third quarter national earthquake drill for 2021 was held, followed by the fourth quarter drill on November 11.

When the ceremonial alarm sounds, viewers can do the “duck, cover, and hold” motion in their homes and businesses by watching the event live on the Civil Defense PH and National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Facebook sites.
