Binay and Gordon are still on the Ping-Tito senatorial ticket.

Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, the party’s standard-bearer, rejected allegations on Tuesday that former Vice President (VP) Jejomar “Jojo” Binay and Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon had been pulled off the party’s senatorial slate.

“It is not true that we are dropping ex-VP Jojo Binay and Sen. Dick Gordon from our Senate lineup. “They continue to honor our gentlemen’s agreement as far as SP (Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’) Sotto (III) and I am concerned, unlike the two that we have dropped before,” Lacson said in a Twitter post.

Lacson was alluding to guest senatorial candidates Herbert Bautista and Sherwin Gatchalian, who had previously been pulled off their ticket due to their endorsements of other presidential candidates.

In a second statement, Sotto echoed Lacson’s sentiments.

“I’d want to clear the air and clarify claims that Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Dick Gordon had been dropped from the Lacson-Sotto senatorial ticket. “At the moment, Sen. Ping Lacson and I are backing 11 senatorial candidates, but this does not yet include ex-VP Binay and Sen. Gordon,” Sotto added.

He and Lacson have yet to debate the topic in order to finalize their “Magic 12” senatorial candidates, he stated.

“To imply they’ve already been dropped from our lineup is completely false,” Sotto remarked.

Binay is a member of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), whereas Gordon is a guest candidate of Vice President Leni Robredo and her running mate, Senator Francis Pangilinan, who are both presidential candidates.

Lacson previously stated that he will not compromise his ideals in order to gain more votes or followers.

He also stated that despite political pressures, he will stick to his values.

Predictability and stability, according to Lacson, are desirable qualities in politics, business, and life in general.

He stated that his ideals and advocacies, particularly against corruption, are non-negotiable, even if it means losing political support.

“Kami may sariling sinusundang baseline principles sa buhay namin, ‘di lang sa eleksyon,” Lacson said.

Honesty, integrity, loyalty, dignity, and self-respect are among the values that the former national police chief upholds, all of which were instilled in him by his parents.

“We appreciate their decision, but we must also maintain our own set of values.” The election will take place in one day (The election is only one day). After that, if they want, we can still be friends,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Guillermo Eleazar, a senatorial candidate for the Partido Reporma and a former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has pledged to empower senior citizens by ensuring job opportunities for those who are still fit to work, as well as national government support for their health and basic needs.

During a recent meet and greet in Tanza, Cavite, Eleazar underlined the importance of a support system for older folks.

He stated that he would endeavor to ensure that older individuals have equal career prospects, citing a news item about a senior citizen who applied and was later hired as a call center representative.

“Many of our senior seniors are still strong and capable, having been forced to retire at a young age.” If elected to the Senate, I will investigate this and propose methods to increase senior citizen employment,” Eleazar added.

The senate candidate also promised to provide assistance to senior folks with their medical and healthcare needs.

Eleazar has been campaigning for regular barangay medical visitation, especially in remote places, to bring doctors and medicines closer to the people for check-ups, downloading of essential drugs, and maintenance, especially for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

He claimed that because some older citizens and PWDs, particularly those from distant locations, cannot readily travel for medical care, the government should provide basic health care for them so that they do not feel abandoned or deprived of fundamental health services from the government.
