ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Twelve further cases of the Omicron variety of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have been reported by the municipal health office, but all have recovered.

On February 11, the city health officer, Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, reported they received the results of the new cases from the Philippine Genome Center.

“With this, Zamboanga City now has a total of 29 Omicron cases identified, with the initial 17 discovered cases reported on February 3,” Miravite added.

Aside from the new Omicron cases, the city’s genome sequencing result on February 11 revealed one new Delta variant case, according to Miravite.

The report revealed the presence of Omicron, Delta, Beta, and Alpha strains, according to her.

“All of the additional instances detected have recovered, much like the 17 Omicron cases reported last February 3,” she added.

Meanwhile, Miravite stated that the city has a 93.02 percent recovery rate, citing 144 additional recoveries, increasing the total number of recovered cases to 26,397 as of February 14.

According to the data, the city has a total of 28,375 confirmed cases, with 799 active cases and 1,179 deaths.

Seven hundred and eighty-eight of the 799 active cases were obtained through community transmission, including five BJMP personnel, four precinct-level inmates, and two authorized persons outside the residence.

60.5 percent of active cases were asymptomatic, 36.3 percent had mild symptoms, 2.6 percent were moderate, and 0.6 percent were critical, according to Miravite.
