To improve coco farming, the Philippine Army and the PCA have teamed up.

MANILA – The Philippine Army (PA) and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) have signed a revised memorandum of understanding that will allow the PCA to assist the PA in utilizing sites in reservations that are appropriate for coconut growing.

“PCA Administrator Gen. Benjamin R. Madrigal, Jr. (Ret.) and Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr. signed the Revised Memorandum of Partnership that covers PCA’s assistance in the use of open areas within military reservations that are suitable for coconut farming, as well as the inclusion of coconut growers and cooperatives as program parties,” said Army spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad in a statement late Wednesday

The updated agreement, which was inked on Wednesday, also allowed large PA units to form localized relationships with PCA.

It also assured PCA of the Army’s logistical help in the implementation of partnership-related projects.

The original PA-PCA agreement, which was signed on July 20, 2020, backed the Army’s “Green Camp Program,” which is aligned with the national government’s counter-insurgency and pandemic response activities.

The signing of the expanded partnership agreement, according to Brawner, demonstrates the PA and PCA’s shared commitment to achieving long-term peace and security.

“Our fruitful collaboration helps to mitigate the terrible effects of the Covid-19 pandemic while also improving the socio-economic well-being of agriculture workers across the country,” he added.
