Lorenzana asks Pinoys to remember Rizal’s principles.
As the country commemorates the 125th anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal’s death, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana reminded Filipinos to remember his principles, heroism, and ultimate sacrifice.
“We are reminded of the ongoing battles we confront as a country as we commemorate Dr. Rizal’s life and legacy, and how we might conquer them with the same devotion and courage as our national hero. May we never forget his beliefs or the ultimate sacrifice he made to fight and uphold the dignity of our country “In a statement, Lorenzana said.
Lorenzana also asked all Filipinos to continue to improve themselves, to draw inspiration from Rizal’s heroism, and to be a part of the transformation that will bring wealth to the country.
“Bagama’t nakamit na natin ang ating kalayaan, nawa’ y magsilbi pa ring inspirasyon ang kanyang kabayanihan upang pagbutihin natin ang ating mga sarili at maging kabahagi ng pag-unlad ng bayan Let us always strive, like Dr. Rizal did, to discharge our duty as devoted citizens in the service of our countrymen “Added he.
The theme of “Rizal: Para sa Agham, Katotohanan, at Buhay” emphasizes the importance of Filipinos imitating Rizal’s love for education, according to Lorenzana.
“Dr. Rizal cherished the quest of knowledge as a pioneer in several scientific domains. He thought that in order for a nation to emerge from a dark era in its history, it needed to be enlightened and united. This fervent love for country, as shown in his brilliant and enduring writings, has inspired and moved our people to action for generations “Added he.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) also urged Filipinos to follow in the footsteps of the national hero by increasing their personal self-discipline, especially in the midst of a pandemic.
Individual self-discipline, particularly in following to minimal public health standards and being vaccinated, as well as disseminating accurate information about coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) preventive and vaccines, can help achieve this.
“As the new year approaches, I encourage individuals to rediscover self-discipline as demonstrated by the life and writings of Dr. Jose Rizal. Discipline is essential for us to keep our new year resolutions in our personal and professional lives. BIDA ang bawat Pilipino disiplinadong. In a statement, DILG Secretary Eduardo Ao said, “Disiplina Muna.”
He went on to say that Rizal’s personification of discipline is one of the reasons he was chosen as the official icon of the Department’s “Disiplina Muna” national advocacy campaign and subsequent “BIDA ang May Disiplina: Solusyon sa Covid-19” campaign, which aims to rebuild the country’s discipline culture.
Its goal is to inspire people to take part in the fight against Covid-19 by promoting “BIDA Plus” behaviors such as: B – Bawal walang mask; I – I-sanitize ang mga kamay, iwas-hawak sa mga bagay; D – Dumitansya ng isang metro; A – Alamin ang totoong impormasyon, plus vaccination
