The people wearing green in the campaign rally photo are supporters, not DOH employees.
MANILA – The people pictured at a campaign rally donning a green shirt with the Department of Health (DOH) insignia are not DOH personnel.
The Department of Health said in a statement Thursday night that the people wearing the shirts are health workers who are employed or directly engaged by local government bodies (LGUs).
A viral photo of people dressed in green DOH uniforms at a campaign rally in Ilocos Sur for presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running partner, Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte, went popular on social media.
“The Department of Health wishes to inform the public that the individuals in the circulating images of a campaign rally are not employees of the Department of Health,” the statement stated.
The Department of Health stated that it has no responsibility for health workers employed or directly engaged by local governments, but asked anyone who got similar shirts not to wear them while advocating for a candidate.
“As a result of the Department’s various health promotion campaigns and outreach programs on the ground, the DOH and its partners have produced and distributed a multitude of shirts and paraphernalia bearing the DOH logo, to both health and non-health workers, those covered under CSC rules and those not,” it said.
The DOH endorsed the Executive Secretary’s and the Civil Service Commission’s recommendations on maintaining political neutrality in government service in November 2021.
“During the 2022 elections, the Department strongly advises the public not to use these apolitical materials to endorse politicians,” it added.
